How it works

Firewood ordered online, delivered to your door. Here's exactly what happens.

For customers

From search to warm fire

1

Search by ZIP code

Enter your ZIP on the homepage. We show you every dealer that delivers to your address — with prices, wood types, and quality details upfront.

2

Browse verified listings

Each listing shows the wood species, moisture content, whether it's seasoned, and photos. Dealers with verified insurance get a badge. Not sure which species to choose? See the wood guide for BTU ratings and burn characteristics.

3

Order and pay securely

Choose your delivery type — dump or stacked — and pay at checkout via Stripe. Your card is charged when you order, not when you hope the dealer shows up.

4

Pin your drop zone

After placing your order, open your order tracking page and pin the exact spot you want the wood left. Add a photo so the dealer knows where to go without a call.

5

Agree on a delivery window

The dealer proposes a delivery window through the platform. You accept or counter-propose. Everything is confirmed in writing — no voicemail loops.

6

Track your delivery in real time

You get notified when the dealer marks your order en route. Your tracking page shows the current status and delivery window at all times.

7

Get your invoice automatically

Connecticut law requires a written delivery invoice for every cord of firewood. Yours is generated automatically and available on your order page — no chasing the dealer for paperwork.

8

Rate the burn quality

After delivery, you'll get a prompt to rate how the wood burned. Your feedback helps CT buyers find quality wood and holds dealers to a standard.

For dealers

From listing to payout

Everything below happens through your dealer dashboard — no spreadsheets, no manual invoicing, no paper certificates.

1

Apply in a few minutes

Fill out a short application — business name, contact info, and a bit about your operation. We review every dealer before approving. Usually 24–48 hours.

2

Set up your account

Connect a Stripe account for payouts, add your service towns, and fill in your transporter info for CT transportation certificates. Takes about 15 minutes total, once.

3

List your products

Add your cords with price, type, species mix, moisture readings, and photos. Verified listings with moisture data and insurance convert better — customers can see the quality before they buy.

4

Orders arrive, paid

When a customer orders, you get an email with their details. The payment is already collected. No chasing cash, no Venmo back-and-forth.

5

Confirm and schedule

Confirm the order in your dashboard and propose a delivery window. The customer accepts or counters. Everything is documented — no he-said-she-said.

6

Sign the transportation certificate

Before you leave, sign the pre-filled CT transportation certificate in your dashboard. It takes 10 seconds and covers you if you're stopped on the road.

7

Deliver and mark done

The customer may have pinned their exact drop zone with a GPS photo — check it before you arrive. Mark the order delivered and the CT delivery invoice is generated automatically.

8

Get paid

Funds go directly to your Stripe account after delivery is confirmed. The 12% platform fee is added to the customer's total at checkout — not deducted from your payout. You receive your full listed price.

Common questions

What's the platform fee?

12% of the product price, charged to the customer at checkout. You set your price; customers pay your price plus the fee. You receive your full price minus nothing — the fee is collected from the customer side.

Do I need an account to order firewood?

No. You order as a guest. You'll get an email with a link to your order tracking page — no password required.

What if the dealer cancels my order?

If a dealer cancels, you'll receive a full refund automatically. Refunds typically appear within 5–10 business days depending on your bank.

What are the Connecticut firewood laws?

CGS § 16a-243 requires a written invoice at every delivery. CGS § 23-46b requires a transportation certificate any time firewood is moved on CT roads. CT Firewood Delivery generates both automatically for every order.

How long does dealer approval take?

Usually 24–48 hours. We review every application manually before approving access.
